Apter Technology provides a range of Filter on-site services which starts with site inspection to final filter replacement and testing.

From our field experience we have seen that Facility management replaces the filters after a predetermined period of time such as six months or a year, this is during their scheduled service visit. This is a rigid approach and does not take into account the performance of different filters and the various environments in which they operate. Over a set period, the filters in one AHU may be loaded completely with dust, while another set of filters is virtually clean. It all depends on the level of incoming particulate and the capabilities of the installed filters. So, make checking the system pressure drop part of the regular maintenance routine. If the filter has exceeded its recommended final pressure drop, it’s time to change. And when looking for replacements, choose filters that are suitable for the level of incoming particulate.

An incorrectly installed or maintained filtration system will not only cause problems in terms of optimum performance, in some environments it can represent a potential danger to the people and equipment it was designed to protect. Because of this, it is crucial that the same level of care be taken towards the installation and maintenance of an HVAC air filtration system which was given to its selection in the first place.

Apter’s 8 Step Approach to finding the perfect filter Solution

The most important factor to consider in selecting the proper air filter is to meet the optimum air quality requirements (Particle size efficiency requirements) at the same time balancing the Energy Efficiency too. The challenge comes from the fact that these two factors are at opposite end of the selection, that is as you increase one the other also increases and vice-versa.

By over specifying filtration efficiency in many cases results in very high energy consumption, while selecting a filter with lowest energy consumption could risk the health of people in your building due to dust entry into the rooms.

Apter Site Engineer analyses the conditions inside and outside of your building and your filter selection is based upon hard evidence of what is required at an optimum level.

1. Initial Client Consultation
Apter personnel collect information about the current and desired air cleanliness along with energy costs and conservation goals.

2. Site Inspection
We visit the site to check the current filters used at site, the installation and filter framing mechanism used at site, how is the access to the filter section, general AHU condition and coil cleanliness.

3. Recording Parameters at site
Our Engineers use approved instruments to determine the dust accumulation levels at critical areas in your HVAC system. We try to establish the current air flow rates, pressure drops, velocities and other system control parameters.

4. Data Analysis
The collected raw data will be analyzed by our technical personnel to gain precise insight into the current system and environment.

5. New System Design

Using our system framework, our team formulates the optimum filtration solution to meet the air cleanliness class and meet the efficiency grades with highest possible energy conservation and lowest possible Life cycle costs.

6. Site Report with Recommendations

A report shall be provided based on the site measurements and analysis results accompanied by full recommendations and system design. Any defects in current filtration system will be identified along with recommended remedial actions.

7. New system implementation and Maintenance

Our team will help in the installation of the new filtration system in place with recommendations for remedial works for AHU. The old filters and framing system can be disposed as per municipality guidelines and regulations.

8. Review of new system

The new systems measurements shall be carried out to ensure that the required level of air quality levels is achieved and energy levels are met.
